On behalf of our kababayans, I would like to welcome Consul General Jose Ampeso. A career diplomat, Consul General Ampeso has served in various capacities in many Philippine missions across the world, from Asia to the Americas , Europe, and the Middle East . Prior to his recent arrival in Vancouver , he was minister and consul general of the Philippine Embassy in Caracas , Venezuela a post he held starting in 2007. Consul General Ampeso is actually no stranger here in Rain City . Many in the community could recall that he served as consul here in Vancouver from 1987 to 1990.

The Philippine consulate general is a vital post, serving as the official representative of the Philippines in Canada ’s western and northwestern provinces. It serves British Columbia , Alberta , Yukon , and Northwest Territories.

Consul General Ampeso finished his bachelor’s and law degrees at the prestigious University of the Philippines where national leaders are trained and honed in the art of statesmanship. He also holds a master’s degree from the National University of Singapore. His green credentials are impeccable. He has represented the Philippines in various environmental meetings in cities like Rio de Janeiro , Geneva , New York , Washington D.C. , Paris , Madrid , Cartagena , Nairobi and Vienna.Living Today will feature Consul General Ampeso in our next edition.
